How does the Baltic amber work exactly?
Amber contains a substance called succinate that can be found both in the nature and in our bodies (in very small amounts). Succinite possesses anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Today it is recognized by the medical world and is artificially manufactured by the pharmaceutical industry to be used as a compound of immune system medications. People have been aware of the healing powers of amber since ancient times, this wonderful stone has been used all over Europe for centuries. To reveal its full potential, amber must be in direct and continuous contact with your skin, that way it warm against your body and the succinic acid is absorbed through the skin. Benefits of amber will become more and more evident with time.
Which type of amber do we use?
We use only raw Baltic amber of AAA class jewellery grade. Our skilled and dedicated artisans NEVER use plastic imitation or melted amber. When you buy from us you can be sure you get top quality products. We offer amber beads for babies of both traditional and contemporary design in a variety of colours. Amber beads are made by splitting a larger block of amber into pieces, polishing and drilling a hole in every bead.
How much does the shipping cost?
Nothing at all! We ship all of our products free of charge.
What to expect when my baby is teething?
Teething may cause discomfort and be slightly painful, some other symptoms the baby may experience include drooling, dry and irritated skin, diarrhoea and fever. Some babies become fussy and have trouble sleeping. Often these symptoms are transient and do not require special treatment. However, sometimes they can be worrisome for parents.
Why does teething hurt?
Baby's teeth start developing in the uterus, where teeth buds are formed. As teeth keep developing after birth, they push through the gums, and this process may be accompanied by irritation, gum swelling and pain. Although sucking relieves the pain slightly, it also causes more blood to flow to the swollen areas, as a result they become even more sensitive. This explains why babies sometimes reject the breast or bottle when they are teething.
How long does teething normally last?
It’s impossible to know when your baby's first tooth will appear. In most cases it happens at around six months, but it can happen earlier or later, even before birth or after the first birthday. Teething normally takes a year or more. Probably your little one will have all his/her milk teeth at the age of two-and-a-half.
Why are painkillers not a good idea?
Of course, you would like to anything to stop your baby’s suffering. Nothing is worse than listening helplessly to the little one wailing. However, painkillers are out of question. There’s a lot of evidence that chemical pain relievers can have negative side effects and in rare cases even pose life-threatening danger to young children. Using painkillers for children under 2 years old may cause a serious condition called methemoglobinemia, a blood disorder when the haemoglobin cannot effectively release oxygen in the body. If, after all you decide to give your baby acetaminophen or ibuprofen, check the recommended dose very carefully and do not administer other medication that may also contain acetaminophen at the same time.
Gels and other fever relief products do not last long to be re-administered. Other methods you may have heard about, such as ice cubes, clove salves, teething rings, wet washcloth, teething cloth etc. are not suitable for babies.
Baltic amber differs from teething gels, powders and other medications, because it is a non-invasive remedy that has no side effects. It a very good choice if you want to reduce the pain and discomfort your child is experiencing while teething.
What is the right length?
Our teething necklaces and anklets are all one size: amber teething necklaces - 12.6-13 inches or 32-33 cm. / amber teething anklets/bracelets - 5.5-6.0 inches or 14-15 cm. This size normally fits most young children. It’s a good idea to measure the wrist/ankle or neck of the child and then check our product details before you decide to purchase.
Will there be an immediate effect?
Amber teething necklaces & amber teething anklets/bracelets may not work the same way for everyone, this is normal for a natural product. In some cases the effect is immediate, but sometimes it takes time for the amber to work and changes happen gradually. It all depends on individual cases, as everyone’s body is different.
Is there a difference among the colours?
Therapeutically, the colour of amber makes no difference when it comes to its healing properties. Your choice depends on your personal taste. Usually boys prefer darker colours and girls often choose lighter tones.
Does water damage the necklace or anklet?
It is advisable that you avoid prolonged contact with water. Exposure to water may cause the thread to become brittle.
What happens if it gets pulled?
All our products are designed with safety in mind. They are threaded on a cotton string. If they are pulled too hard or caught in something, the string will tear. If it happens, only one bead will come loose, because there are safety knots on both sides of each bead.
When can my baby start wearing the necklace or anklet?
The baby can wear the necklace or anklet from the very first day when he/she is born, alternatively, you can wait till the baby starts teething or showing signs of discomfort from teething.
How long will the necklace or anklet last?
Our teething necklaces and anklets are designed for use with babies and are extremely durable. If taken good care of, a necklace/anklet will last long and may be pass down in the family for generations.
My baby wants to chew on the necklace, is it safe?
It will not harm the baby, however, the necklace/anklet is made to be worn, not chewed. You can try to tuck it under the child’s clothing, the necklace will quickly assume body temperature and the child will simply forget about it. To satisfy your baby's increased urge to chew, use teething aids, e.g. chewing rings.
Will this necklace be enough to relieve my baby teething symptoms?
This necklace is a natural, harmless teething relief, it helps to alleviate teething discomfort and reduces restlessness, irritability, and drooling.
Are they safe?
Even if the string is torn, which is very unlikely, the beads will not spill and get lost, as every bead is secured with a knot on both sides. There is no danger of choking, because necklaces are secured with a screw clasp, instead of a hook and ring.
What is the most important ingredient of amber?
The Baltic amber (succinate) is a fossilised resin off plants that grew 40 – 50 million years ago. In nature resin functions as an antibiotic that protects the plant from diseases, it also acts as a natural plaster for cuts and helps the plant heal faster. Fossilised resin retains its healing properties and, when warmed by the skin, releases its active healing compounds.
